NORTH EAST TO PILOT NEXT STEPS FOR SEARS

Posted on

The next phase of SEARS is to be marked by a Rural Hubs pilot in the North East that hopefully will build on current work, stripping out unnecessary or duplicate paperwork and inspections.

Research estimates that Scotland’s rural land managers are spending around 11% less time on paperwork from the SEARS (Scotland’s Environmental and Rural Services) Partnership. The SEARS Annual Review 2009-10, published at the Royal Highland Show over the weekend, also highlighted that almost 5,000 fewer inspections have stemmed from the Partnership since its launch in 2008, along with a number of other customer benefits.

The pilot project in the North East will seek to create further improvements for rural land managers. A number of services offered by SEARS partners will be made universally available at six different offices in the area. The Rural Hub pilot offices are Ballater, Elgin, Fraserburgh, Grantown-on-Spey, Huntly and Thainstone.
