TOM GRADUATES WITH BEST STUDENT AWARD

Bowlts’ latest forestry recruit, Tom Luthman, got his new career in forestry off to an impressive start by winning the Institute of Chartered Foresters (ICF)’s Best Student award. Tom was presented with the award at his graduation ceremony at Inverness’ Eden Court Theatre on 17^th September 2010.

Tom graduated with a BSc (with Distinction) in Sustainable Forest Management (with Forest Conservation). Forestry is a change in career for Tom who, after a degree in Politics and a brief career as a chef, decided he wanted to work with the environment. He said: “I’m delighted to be given this award from the ICF. It’s a great way to finish my studies and hopefully stands me in good stead for the rest of my career.”

During his degree Tom spent a year working with the Forestry Commission’s Highlands and Islands Conservancy, focusing on forestry in the private sector. The year also included a trip to Sweden to examine the impact of climate change on northern European nations. Tom is now a full-time Forester at Bowlts Chartered Surveyors and plans to continue to work towards achieving chartered status with the ICF.

RURAL PRACTICE CHARTERED SURVEYOR AND TRAINEE CHARTERED SURVEYOR POSITIONS

Due to an increasing workload, we are looking to expand our rural practice department. Our office is based at Pluscarden, near Elgin, Moray. We currently have a staff of 15 and our core activity is property consultancy and rural estate management.

We are currently accepting applications for both a Rural Practice Chartered Surveyor as well as a Trainee Chartered Surveyor.

The successful applicants will join our rural practice team, which consists of four fully qualified land agents. Both positions are full-time, working Monday to Friday, and salary will be negotiable depending on experience.
