HIGHLAND COUNCIL CONSULTS ON MAIN ISSUES REPORT

Posted on

The Highland Council have begun consultation on the Highland Wide Local Development Plan Main Issues Report. The Main Issues Report identifies the choices for development in the Highland area, including the A96 corridor. The plan sets out the strategy, policy and vision for the Highlands over the next ten to 20 years. The plan will update and replace parts of the Highland Structure Plan and also parts of Local Plans that contain strategic policy issues. The Plan will also set the context for the new Local Development Plans which will cover the inner Moray Firth area, the Caithness and Sutherland area and also the West Highlands and Islands area.

The Main Issues Report is a key document for early engagement on the Local Development Plan as Highland Council have not taken a firm view on the strategy to be followed. Therefore, for those wishing to make a representation in relation to the Main Issues Report, it is essential that your comments are submitted to Highland Council by the 9th November 2009 deadline.

At Bowlts, staff have many years of experience of the Development Plan Review process and are fully up-to-date on the changes to the review process resulting from the Planning Etc (Scotland) Act 2006. We would be happy to assist you in making a representation or to discuss the implications of the plan. Please contact rowena@bowlts.com should you require more information.
